Commercial real estate investors and lenders have been assaulted by negative news documenting the woes of the retail property sector. Zombie malls, just “mauled” and mall-pocalypse are some of our personal favorites. While some malls are obsolete, the entire retail property sector has been painted with the same brush. Essentially, retail property has become a bad word. We believe this fear related to any property labeled “retail” creates opportunity for investors willing to take a closer look at a property sector with a wide range of fundamentals.
