Romney Was Right After All
When it happened, we wrote about it extensively, but were stunned when the Republicans chose not to make much of the "dead microphone" comments made by the President Obama to then Russian President Medvedev that after the '12 elections he could work more closely and better with Medvedev and "Vladimir.” Why this was not played over and over and yet over again to the American public at the time as near treason was and is still surprising to us, but it wasn't and this was a serious, serious error of judgement.
What is worse is that Romney believed that Russia was the US' real military and political threat in the world, and although the so-called Washington "insiders" ridiculed him for his comments, and although the New York and Los Angeles media scoffed at him, he was and is right. Russian has been and is the US' greatest threat. It shall grow more so in the weeks, months and years ahead as Russian spends several times as many billions of dollars on its military as we do upon ours despite an economy that is half of that of the US!
Russia now bombs the rebel forces in Syria with impunity. Russia has taken control of the Crimea and has ground forces in and around parts of southeastern Ukraine. She has a warm water port on the Mediterranean and she's expanding her influence and power in the Arctic, and yet Washington dithers.
Now we know for certain that Moscow intends to tamper with the election results as the US Intelligence Community at large now believes without equivocation that it was Russia at the highest level that authorities hacks into various US e-mail systems. Given that Obama is now the lamest of lame ducks, and certain that he will do nothing to hinder further Russia military mischief in Ukraine and Crimea, it is naive of us not to expect to see Putin expand his sphere of military influence there... and perhaps even into the Baltic States. If we sleep fitfully at night we sleep fitfully for these fears. So too does the US military hierarchy.
