Arnold Palmer’s Legacy

Arnold PalmerArnold Palmer passed away on September a the age of 87. He broadened golf’s appeal, taking it from an elite minority sport to a truly popular global sport. He embraced the new media of TV and all the marketing opportunities that flowed from it: clubs, clothes, instruction videos, course design. He won 62 PGA tour titles, including 7 majors, in a career that spanned 6 decades. In his long life he acquired much wisdom and some memorable ‘bon mots’:
“Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated!”
“Putting is like wisdom – partly a natural gift and partly the accumulation of experience.”
“Winning isn’t everything but wanting it is.”
“It’s a funny thing, the more I practice the luckier I get.”
