2024 may be shaping up well for stocks
The economic landscape has shifted in ways that historically have supported strong returns.
Bearish investors may worry that, even as stocks have gained over the past year, economic conditions remain pretty much the same. Looking at the environment through a historian’s lens, I have a different view. I see important shifts in the economy—including a big decline in inflation, falling credit spreads, and high odds that the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) will lower interest rates this year. Each has benefited stocks in the past.
